Evolving out of the work of Wilhelm Reich, Core Energetics was developed by psychiatrist John Pierrakos, who built upon his previous work as co-creator of Bioenergetic Analysis with Alexander Lowen. John was also inspired by the work of his wife, Eva Pierrakos, a gifted channel for a highly respected and internationally known body of spiritual knowledge known as The Pathwork. Core Evolution is the next "evolutionary" phase developed by Siegmar Gerken, PhD and Cornelia Gerken.

Core Evolution allows each practitioner to utilize the fundamental aspects of Bio Energetics and Core Energetics and weave them with one's particular background and experience (ie., massage therapist, astrologer, psychotherapist, business consultant, psychic, teacher, nurse, etc.) into a unique framework particular to each Core Evolution practitioner. These means that each practitioner will have a different way s/he will "do" Core Evolution.
