Many Magar communities can be found in, but are definitely not limited to, the mid-western areas of Nepal. Most Magars are farmers. Some have improved their economic condition by entering the English, Indian, and Nepali armies. Spread out all over western and central Nepal, the Magars have adopted whatever language, culture, religion, style of dress, and even achitectural style is dictated by their area of settlement.
Some other family names of Magars are: Rana, Ale, Thapa, and Khapangi.
