Torah Trek retreat: Embracing the Four Winds with Rabbi Mike Comins
June 13 - 17 ** $690
Join us for a classic TorahTrek Retreat in a beautiful, intimate setting. This retreat is open to people of all faith traditions, backgrounds and spiritual paths. Immersed in the natural world, participants receive time, space and tools to explore their connection to God, refresh the spirit, and receive the gifts of spiritual practice in wilderness with like-minded people. Everyday Rabbi Comins leads Jewish Wilderness Spirituality activities that include moving meditation, personal and traditional prayer, sacred chant, Torah study and writing.
The program centers on hitbodedut -- alone time for spiritual purpose in nature. Participants choose a (safe and supervised) solo site amidst the trees, grasses and boulders where they return each day for increasing periods of time. In the evenings, the group relaxes, sings, learns and processes the day's events with each other and Rabbi Comins.
Each of the four directions, east, south, west and north, is mentioned in numerous Jewish sources dating back to biblical times. In the this retreat, we'll study the qualities and wisdom associated with each direction, as well as up (the sky) and down (the earth), and integrate what we learn into our spiritual practice. You'll never shake your lulav and etrog the same way again!
The retreat culminates with a day of joyous, Shabbat celebration.
