Dr. Donati's thesis was on solar neutrinos and the measure of their flux in the Gallex experiment at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories. He joined Los Alamos National Laboratory (X-Division, XCM) in 1995, where he worked on agent-based models/simulations of economic markets. From 1996 to 1997 he worked for the Center for Adaptive Systems Applications, Inc. (Los Alamos, NM) on research problems associated with finance, banking, and corporate management. He joined BiosGroup in 1998. He is/has been working on the development of a number of optimization techniques. The most successful are by the use of social insects/swarm intelligence, that have been applied to solve complex problems, such as learning paths on technology graphs, multi traveling salesman problem with obstacles, NK-landscapes exploration, flow-shop, airline and supply-chain scheduling and optimization.
