Important Registration Update

The following courses are now filled and closed to further registration:

You are welcome to continue to register for the remainder of our courses up to the time of the first scheduled meeting of a course. All five field trips are now filled, however, you may still register for these trips if you wish to be put on a waitlist in case of cancellations by those already registered.

President's Message – Important Updates

As you study the pages of the Spring 2012 catalog you will find that the Curriculum Committee has once again put together an outstanding variety of courses, trips, and topics for our Thursday Lecture Series. Your challenge will be trying to fit all of the appealing options into your weekly schedule! We have also introduced several changes for the benefit of both new and continuing members as explained below.

Membership Fee for New & Renewing Members

The spring membership fee has been reduced to $12 for new members and anyone who did not pay the annual membership fee since April 1, 2011. (In the past, if you didn't join for the fall, you still had to pay the $20 annual fee.) Call the Renesan office at 505.982.9274 if you are not sure if you paid dues in the fall.

Registration

This semester's kickoff meeting on January 10 was a great success. Large numbers of new Renesan members signed up for courses, lectures, and trips. For events with limited enrollment that were oversubscribed, a lottery was conducted and those of you who did not make the cut have already been notified of that fact. If you signed up for a limited-enrollment event and have not been contacted by our office staff then you should consider yourself in that course or trip. Those who did not make it into one of the limited courses or trips have been wait-listed and you will be notified before the event if you have been moved into the course or trip that you signed up for.

I look forward to meeting you or welcoming you back after our semester begins on Monday, January 30.

K. Paul Jones, Renesan President

Snow closures/delays

Renesan classes and lectures will be canceled whenever St. John's United Methodist church decides not to open due to snow or ice conditions. Similarly, if the church decides to close early due to inclement weather, any Renesan classes in progress or scheduled for later in the day will be canceled. If the church announces a two-hour delay before opening, Renesan’s 10AM classes will start at 10:30 and end at 12:30; afternoon classes will start as scheduled.

If possible, make-up sessions will be scheduled for canceled classes and lectures. No fee adjustment will be made for canceled classes or lectures that can’t be rescheduled.

How To Determine When St. John’s united Methodist Church Closes or Delays Opening:

  1. Call Renesan’s phone number: 982.9274 after 8:30AM to hear a recorded announcement.
  2. If you can't reach the RENESAN recorded message, tune in to Albuquerque KOAT News 7 (ABC) to see if St. John's United Methodist Church is listed as closed or on a two-hour delay.

Call for Volunteers!

Renesan is a volunteer organization. The classes, lectures, and trips offered each semester come about only through the efforts of our many volunteers. Please consider further participation in Renesan by becoming a volunteer! Volunteers are needed for classroom setup and take down, collecting fees at each lecture, operating audio-visual equipment, general office help, database input and maintenance, and to help produce our catalog. To volunteer, you may call the Renesan office at 982.9274 or return the Volunteer Form available in the Forms section of this website.
