Celebrate contemporary studio art glass with Betsy Ehrenberg. Two sessions will be devoted to gallery and showroom visits and the third session will be in a collector's home. Students will gain a better understanding of the nuances of art glass; discover the world of hot, warm, and cold glass sculpting; and learn to identify flame-worked and kiln-formed glass. Betsy will show us extraordinary examples of lost wax sculpting by New Mexican glass artisans and will discuss the many fabrication challenges inherent in the creation of sculptural glass. This class is designed not only for long-time glass aficionados but also for those just beginning to discover the beauty of contemporary art glass.
Betsy Ehrenberg is a serious collector of contemporary art glass. She is the founder and president of Glass Alliance—New Mexico, an organization that seeks to promote education and appreciation of studio glass, and is a Board member of Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass. She has created the successful Maestro education program for artists, dealers, curators and collectors in California and Santa Fe.
