A Word about Traditional Music (and New "Traditional" Music)
Many of the tunes in this archive are in the public domain as traditional tunes without copyright. Others have been written more recently and the composers should be celebrated. We give credit where credit is due! The tunes in this archive have been transcribed into ABC, a groovy, human-decipherable script that can be read into one of several programs to render it into music notation. Many of these tunes have been arranged and or changed a bit by Roaring Jelly for our live performances. These files provide our band with sheet music so that we're 'all on the same page'!
The files below are provided in Adobe PDF format. Click here to get the free Adobe Reader software.
ABC files are listed separately. Click here to go to Jim Vint's website and get his ABC shareware. Be sure to register your download to promote the folk music community of the 21st Century!
MP3s are recordings of the Roaring Jelly arrangements. These recordings were made primarily to give individual band members something to practice to (and as such they're often rough cuts), but you might find them enjoyable for just plain listening.
Click on the first letter of the (first) tune's name to jump to an alphabetical listing. (If you don't find a tune where you think it should be, try using the find tool in your browser -- the tune you're looking for may be one of a medley.)
