This is the UK organization that watches over baby milk substitute companies (i.e. formula makers) for their compliance (or rather, non-compliance) with the WHO/UNICEF International Code of Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes. They also publish a hard-core newsletter, part of which is on line, Baby Milk Action Update. Read it and feel a part of the world community of breastfeeding activists.

Sponsors of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7, annually), they have loads of information on working and breastfeeding, and many beautiful pictures of nursing women and babies the world over.

The World Health Organisation

Co-authors of the Code (see above), Director General Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, is a former Prime Minister of Norway. While Prime Minister, Norway became the first industrialized country to have EVERY hospital meet the standards of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.  Unlike the American Academy of Pediatrics which recommends a minimum of one year of breastfeeding, WHO recommends a minimum of TWO years of breastfeeding.

Rep Carolyn Maloney’s Breastfeeding Legislation

Yes, the US is shamefully behind in supporting breastfeeding women due to the rights of big business over individuals (mothers and babies)—but Rep. Maloney is trying to get some legislation through Congress that would help working mothers especially.  Currently the bills are stuck in committee—her aids recommend contacting the committee members and telling them to lend their support.  This is also a good site if your employer gave you a hard time with breastfeeding—let them know, and add some fuel to the fire.
